nOxyApp · Legal · Version 1.1 (DRAFT)

Cookie & Local Storage Policy

How nOxyApp uses your browser's storage: the short version is that we set no cookies, run no trackers, and keep only the essentials — your login and your preferences — in your own browser.

DRAFT — pending legal review. This document has been prepared from a technical audit of the application and awaits review by counsel. Do not rely on it until this notice is removed.

1The short version

nOxyApp does not use cookies. We do not use advertising networks, social-media pixels, or fingerprinting of any kind. We count how the app is used with identifier-free usage statistics that run entirely on our own servers — no cookie, nothing saved on your device, no third party involved (details in section 3). The only data stored in your browser is essential local storage: the token that keeps you signed in, and a handful of interface preferences. Because nothing we store is optional tracking, there is nothing for you to opt in or out of — this page simply explains what is there.

2What we store in your browser

Local storage is a standard browser feature; the entries below stay on your device until you clear them or we remove them. None of them are transmitted to third parties.

Key(s)PurposeCategoryLifetime
noxy_token, noxy_token_expKeeps you signed in (your session token and its expiry time)Strictly necessaryUntil logout / expiry
noxy_cookie_ackRemembers that you have seen this noticeStrictly necessaryPersistent
dashboard_show_all, countdown_muted, noxy_email_slots_expandedSmall interface preferences: your dashboard filter, whether you muted the countdown audio, and a settings-page layout choiceFunctionalPersistent
entries_view_prefs_…, noxy_results_view_…Your filters, sorting, and active tab on the entries and results pages, remembered per competitionFunctionalPersistent (the results entry expires by itself after about 18 hours)
noxy_stream_overlay_state, noxy_standalone_countdownWhere you placed the video player on the screen, and the state of the standalone countdown utilityFunctionalPersistent
noxy_overlay_keymap_v1A local copy of your broadcast-overlay keyboard shortcutsFunctionalPersistent
noxy_personal_favorites_v1…Athletes you marked as favorites on this deviceFunctionalPersistent
noxy_a2h_dismissed, noxy_a2h_installed, noxy_a2h_visitsStops us from repeatedly suggesting you install the app once you have dismissed the suggestion or installed itFunctionalPersistent
debug_liveclock, noxy_overlay_debugDiagnostic switches that are never set by the app itself — they exist only if you (or a technician helping you) turn them on by handFunctionalPersistent

One entry uses the browser's session storage instead, which is wiped automatically when you close the tab: noxy_med_toast_shown, which makes sure a reminder about an expiring medical certificate appears only once per tab.

The app also uses the browser's standard application cache (a service worker) so pages load fast and work offline at the pool. That cache holds the app's own program files and images — not personal data about you.

3What we do not do — and the one thing we count

What we do count: aggregate, identifier-free usage statistics — which pages are viewed, which app features are used (as anonymous counters, such as "the compact view was switched on"), roughly where visitors come from (country level), and what kind of device and browser they use. The tool we use for this runs entirely on our own servers: it sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, follows no one across sites, and cannot recognize you when you come back. Your network address (IP) is used only transiently to distinguish visits within a single day and is never stored with the statistics. Page addresses are recorded without their parameters, so links that carry personal codes (for example an e-mail verification link) are counted only as "the verification page was visited".

4Payments happen on Stripe's site

If you pay a registration fee, you are redirected to a payment page hosted by Stripe. That page is governed by Stripe's own cookie and privacy policies. nOxyApp never sees or stores your card details; when you return to us, we only receive confirmation of the payment.

5How to clear the stored data

Logging out removes your session entries. You can clear everything nOxyApp has stored — including preferences and the offline cache — through your browser's settings (usually under "Clear browsing data" → "Cookies and site data" for this site). The app will work afterwards; you'll simply need to sign in again.

6Changes and contact

When this policy changes in substance, we update it, raise its version, and show you the notice again — version 1.1 did exactly that when the self-hosted usage statistics described above were introduced. If anything we add ever stores more than the essentials or requires consent, we will ask for it before it is set.
